Michael Zahlit

Viola

Michael Zahlit is an active performer and teacher in Austin, Texas. 

Michael has been principal violist and member of the Eastern Symphony Festival Orchestra, DePaul Symphony Orchestra, Interlochen Philharmonic, the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, Northbrook Symphony, Dubuque Symphony, and Wisconsin Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also performed with New World Symphony in Miami, Austin Symphony Orchestra, and Austin Lyric Opera. As both a soloist and orchestral player, Michael was a recipient of the Collier Quartet Fellowship at the Britt Music Festival and selected to perform in international music festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival, National Repertory Orchestra, Madeline Island, Montecito, Eastern, Interlochen, and Green Mountain Chamber Music Festivals and as well as the Haydn Music Festival held in Vienna, Austria. 

Michael has had the pleasure to work with and be coached by the Shanghai Quartet, Brooklyn Rider Quartet, American Quartet, Miro Quartet, Arianna Quartet, Anton Nel, Ilya Kaler, Robert Vernon, Don McInnes, Paul Coletti, and Joseph Silverstein. Michael graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with his Bachelor's in Music under the tutelage of Roger Myers and received his Master’s in music at DePaul University with Rami Solomonov and Wei-Ting Kuo.
